NotMyFault Posted April 28 Posted April 28 What is the expected outcome when you use the smudge tool on a stack of n identical layers, e.g. a hard black/white edge? expected: all layers stay identical observed: the smudge effect gradually weakens for every layer from top to bottom. Shouldn’t make a difference, as stack only impacts rendering, but does not impact destructive tools in any way. i selected all (relevant) in the layer stack. All other tools I tested (brush, clone, dodge, burn, … ) seem to work as expected. The change is applied identical to all layers. If you set the strength to below 100%, e.g. 55%, the tool creates semitransparent alpha if you add empty pixel layers between the filled ones. Assume the brush tool samples continuously while painting, and layers get painted sequentially from bottom to top. So the result of lower layers impacts upper layers while painting.
