Mainecoon364 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Step 1) I create a layer. Tried both Vector Layer and Empty Group Layer. Step 2) I choose It Step 2) Draw a line. However the new vector is not placed inside this Vector Layer or Empty Group Layer. Howe can I draw inside a layer automatically? Quote

However the new vector is not placed inside this Vector Layer or Empty Group Layer. It should automatically be placed inside a Vector Layer (aka Layer, with a capital L if you were using the Desktop), and it is on my iPad Designer 2. So if it's not being put there automatically for you, it would be useful to see a screen recording of what you're doing because something is odd and I'm not sure if it's something you're doing or just a terminology issue. Mainecoon364 Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 It does not work. Maybe you misunderstand me. I meant I want to put the new layers in a group layer automatically as soon as they are crated. I chose the group layer. But It does not put the new layers inside It as you see on the screenshot video. Inside The Layer.MP4 Inside The Layer Problem.afdesign Quote

If you are concerned about Groups, you have confused things by talking about Vector Layers. They are different from Groups, and operate differently. Groups behave like other objects in this regard, where a new object will go above the currently selected object. So if you want a new curve to go inside the Group, use NotMyFault's approach above for an empty group, or for a non-empty group have something inside the group selected first so the new object goes above that selected one, and is thus inside the group. Thanks for the recording and the clarification of your problem. Mainecoon364 Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 Have you tried on this file? I could not put the new layers into the neither A) Vector Layer nor B) Group Layer Can you tell me how to do please? Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 29 Posted April 29 21 hours ago, Mainecoon364 said: I could not put the new layers into the neither A) Vector Layer I do not see any Vector Layer layers in that file. Certainly not on your Artboard named Page 8. If it's elsewhere, please point it out. We've already told you how to do it with a Group layer, but I think your issue there is that you're using Artboards, and you're working with objects (e.g., an empty Group you created) that is physically above the Artboard on the screen, but not physically within the Artboard in the Layers panel. That is a recipe for confusion, as you will trigger various interactions with the currently selected Artboard that you may not expect. And I think you probably did not properly select the Artboard before you created your empty Group layer. To get a Vector Layer you would use the following, but you will still need to be very careful to have the right Artboard selected in the Layers panel while you are working. You cannot simply work on the screen/workspace. You must confirm which Artboard is active using the Layers panel.
