NiTOXide Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Hi all, In Text Styles, Hierarchical View, is there a way of duplicating a Paragraph Style/Character Style/Group Style and the subordinate styles attached to it? What I am trying to do is quickly create a copy of Document Text (a group style) and the style hierarchy below it. Document Text - Black Pages (GS) <---Duplicate this entire stack Page Top Headings (PS) In-Column Headings (PS) Body Type (PS) Bullet Point Level 1 (PS - based on Body Type) Bullet Point Level 2 (PS - based on Body Type) Bullet Level 1 (CS) Bullet Level 2 (CS) GS - Group Style; PS - Paragraph Style; CS - Character Style The goal is to have a type set for Black pages, a type set for blank pages, etc. Or is there an easier way or practice that I am missing? Thanks. Quote

I am fairly certain that you'll need to duplicate the Group Style and then duplicate the individual Paragraph and Character Styles one by one and change their Based on setting to the new versions. So it is a fair bit of work. But I am quite often wrong. In additionI would suggest that you append BI and WI for Black Ink and White Ink to the Styles's names to assist you with searching for and applying the styles. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks @Old Bruce - always enjoy reading your solutions and content. It is a fair bit of work, especially for a magazine layout that has different looks to match a mood or image concept. InDesign had the ability of duplicating a group of styles fairly quickly. I am guessing each style was given a numerical ID, as seen that the duplicated styles in a group retained their original names (and the group name was appended with "copy"). Here's hoping that Affinity will take another look at Text Styles in the future like they did with spread layouts. ^^ InDesign instructions below: Quote
