Text put into a table is munged in Publisher (Mac Studio)

When I paste the text:

Figure 1: Finished construction of a full scale model of the initial helical coil STAR_Lite configuration.

into the second row of my table, It gets munged (as shown). It also gets displayed the same way when I type it in. What is going on? I always put images and captions in a table to keep them together.

Select the text and then go to Character panel > Typography section and deselect the Subscript control.

I think you might have done that by accident.

It seems embedded in my tables. New tables do the same thing.

I don't think it has anything to do with it but maybe check your text styles?

If it's not in the text style then fixing it for one table and immediately drawing another should solve it. But if not, you can select the table and choose Edit > Defaults > Revert.
