Gary Long Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I need guidelines to show on the pasteboard in order to do some edits to a copy of a complex map/chart without copying it into a separate document, but can't figure out how to do this (I could do it in Indesign). There was a forum topic on this several years ago, but it was never answered satisfactorily. I do have things set up so that objects are visible on the pasteboard. Probably some simple thing I'm overlooking. Quote
Bound by Beans Posted April 22 Posted April 22 No, guides unfortunately still disappear outside the canvas. Quote
Gary Long Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 I was beginning to think it wasn't possible. Thanks for confirming. Quote
R C-R Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Is everything on the map/chart on one page of the document? If so, you could add the guidelines to that page & use the Duplicate feature to create a new page with the same content so you could edit the copy on that page.... Gary Long Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 That would work, though I don't know where I'd put the duplicated page (this is in the middle of a 400-page book), but your suggestion made me think of what should have been an obvious solution: I copied the object (chart/map) to the pasteboard, then added the necessary guides on the document page and made my edits there. I simply wanted to have an original version of the object for reference. I was so used to using guidelines on the pasteboard in Indesign for doing this kind of thing. Quote
