pomme27 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 When I use the Table Tool to drag out a new table in Affinity Publisher 2, the resulting table has thin black lines to demarcate all the rows, columns and cells. So far, so good. But the table also has a bunch of light blue lines and greater-than (>) symbols. See attached image. I am creating the table on a blank page. There is no underlying text frame. What are these blue lines and symbols trying to tell me? How do I get rid of them? Thanks. Quote
R C-R Posted April 22 Posted April 22 The symbols that look like greater than symbols are column break symbols. You can hide them by going into Preview Mode or unticking Show special characters in the Text menu. They appear in the center of each table cell because you have set Center Align for all those cells. The blue lines are probably the baseline grid. pomme27 Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 Thank you. I appreciate the help. I know a bit about Affinity Publisher, but I am new to tables. Let me ask another question. I want to center text vertically within a cell. But when I highlight the text and click the "align vertically" button, nothing happens. The text doesn't move. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thank you? Quote
GarryP Posted April 22 Posted April 22 The Vertical Alignment might be getting overridden because you are using the Baseline Grid. Set "Use Baseline Grid", as can be seen in your screen-grab, to OFF. Quote
pomme27 Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 When I click on "Use Baseline Grid", the little tick mark won't go away. Is there another way to turn it off? Quote
GarryP Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) I find it strange that you cannot set it to OFF and don’t know why you can’t do that. Try setting it OFF in the Frame section of the Table Panel instead. Try setting “Ignore Baseline Grid” ON in the Frame section of the Table Panel instead. Note: Full-screen (whole application UI) screenshots are often much more useful than limited-area screen-grabs. Edited April 22 by GarryP Added clarification. Quote
pomme27 Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 Thank you for the hint. I clicked "Ignore Baseline Grid", and that turned off the "Use Baseline Grid" tick mark. The vertical alignment feature now works. Much appreciated. Quote
