Hello and thank you all for the privilege of your time.

As I learn to use the Affinity Suite of Applications more and more, minute things like the following is bothering me. Is the following a design and implementation flaw?

Please refer to the screenshot.

I am aware that are "hacks" or "work arounds." However, why can't we simply enter the exact opacity value? Or at least some kind of a visual feedback on the slider with exact numbers?

In this example, I am trying to make the background color of the Latin names of my spices to #2F9E95. I don't want the background to be 100%.

Right now, via eyeballing, it is around 80-something.

Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, this was like this in Publisher 1.X.

We are on Affinity version 2.6.X.

What is going on?!?!

Unfortunately, for this and many other issues and tagged bugs known from V1 nothing is going on in V2. – For consistent, identical colour transparency you can create a colour swatch with alpha and use this for text styles.

It’s the sad result of Serif’s ongoing refusal to hire and acknowledge usability specialists, along with the ultimate collapse of their misguided business model — one with far, far too few employees working on Affinity, and far, far too little contact with the actual market. The swatches and colour panel are definitely overdue for a serious usability overhaul.

There are so many outstanding issues in Affinity that I doubt they’ll ever get even halfway through them. But I hope things work out for you. 🙂

Serif, did you foolishly fill the usability specialist role you advertised internally? If so, be transparent with your customers. Continuing without proper UX expertise both insults and affects your entire customer base.
