Affinity Designer Ipad v2 - How To Merge A4 Pages Of A PDF File

I import a PDF file which contains A4 pages. 

 

When I import they are imported as Artboards.

 

I want to merge them and get an A0 page. 

 

Probably there will be 2 or 3 A0 pages finally.

I would start by creating an A0-size document. You can then use Place to add each page from the PDF individually as an Embedded or Linked document, and arrange them as you like.

As the pages of the PDF are an odd size, I would suggest setting up a grid, or guide lines, to help place the individual pages correctly on an A0 page. (Note that the first page is a guide to the correct layout of the other pages, so that the actual page numbers are different to the PDF page numbers.)

They are an odd size, aren’t they! Contrary to the OP’s statement about their being A4 (297 mm by 210 mm) they’re actually 270 mm by 185 mm, so they don’t even share the same aspect ratio.

I think there as 3 pages as total.

 

I want to merge the pages so that the patterns are split into two page.

 

Question 1) I thought maybe I can select all the pages. 

Then set the distance between the pages so that they are merged.

 

Then I split the A4 pages which are belong second and third A0 page.

 

How do I do this?

 

Question 2) I can not select an Artboard by clicking It with a Move Tool?

 

Question 3) There is a “Lock Children” button on the desktop version. 

But Ipad version It has not. 

So how do I set the distance between the A4 pages?

In the iPad version it’s on the Move Tool Options menu:

Clicking in the workspace will only select whatever is underneath where you click. You can draw a marquee around an artboard or you can select it in the Layers Studio.

But It only moves the vector inside the artboard NOT the artboard.

Dragging and dropping is for moving things. If you want to select something in the workspace, you can do so by drawing a marquee around it with the Move Tool.

If you’re only selecting the objects on the artboard, you have to do it another way. You could drag a marquee around adjacent artboards and then deselect one of them in the Layers Studio, but if you’re visiting the Layers Studio you might as well just click there to select the single artboard that you wanted to select in the first place.

An artboard is a special kind of object, but it’s still an object with X and Y coordinates. You can drag it to a new position in the workspace, or you can use the controls in the Transform Studio if you need numerical precision.

Can you share a screenshot video which is showing;

 

A) Select a single artboard and move It. (Move the artboard with the ingredient together)

 

B) Select all the artboards and make the distance zero between them

In the way they are merged

 

Please?

 

As you see I can not do It by myself.

There isn’t a tool called the Marquee Tool.

The tool you’re looking for is the same one as you used in your own video.

Ok.

Now I grouped some of them and I want to align the groups.

 

However this time I can not choose the groups from the layers panel. 

(Only the outer rectangle moves not the ingredients.)

 

How do we do this?

Secondly how can I extract the shapes (vectors) inside them.

The entire vector design is already on Page 1. No need for the other pages. Just a rescale of Page1 required

Using V2 Designer, when you select IMPORT your original PDF file, DESELECT all pages, then SELECT ONLY PAGE 1. The entire design is on Page 1.

Each rectangle as @Alfred stated is 185mm x 270mm. The First page at first glance appears to have everything we need. 

So the plan is to scale Page 1 so that the 6 x 7 rectangles exactly matches a 6x185 =1,110mm by 7x270=1,890mm rectangle.
Then once scaled the grid lines can be removed and replaced by whatever grid is best for the user, if A4 pages are required then you can now build a grid that size on top then use them as guides in the export manager to create each page as a slice rather than using artboards at all..

I can only work with what I’m given, the separate pages in that PDF were a nightmare especially because I don’t have all the fonts it contains..

Would probably print out to a pdf file one page at a time, bring them into Affinity one at a time then crop them to their page size and finally after processing every page bring them together, get rid of all pages borders and artboards and marks then divide it up again as A4 or whatever. I don’t have an end use printer so difficult to say what is actually needed.

Did you download the afdesign file I posted above? It is page 1 and it is all vectors.

For the export persona method, you have to change the export format on every single page slice to svg-for-export.

That’s tedious enough for the OP’s document! What if it were five or ten times the size?

I know, if it wasn't for Page 1 having everything I would say it is just not worth the effort. Nothing to do with Affinity I don't think just the wrong tool for the job.
