Cjsosa96 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Currently trying to smooth out my edges but cannot do it , I’ve tried the drop down mean for smooth but it messes with the sharpness, instead of being sharp it’s curved, how else can I achieve the smooth? thank you images are : the Original File (black) , the one I created it’s red and rough, also last 2 pictures are from Cricut , it’s also going to cut it rough if I don’t fix it first on AFFINITY Quote
NotMyFault Posted April 19 Posted April 19 It seems you are using designer, but in Pixel persona. To get smooth edges, and allow scaling without quality change, you should use vectors / curves instead of pixel selections and pixel layers. Use the pen tool to trace the source shape at all corners, use only sharp nodes. Then switch to node tool and touch and drag in the middle of curves to create rounded curves. The process will take only 10 minutes for this image, and allows to get smooth results in any document size when exported to a bitmap file type like png or jpeg. Pixel layers are always limited by the current resolution (pixel size in x and y axis) and cannot be scaled without loss of quality. Attached the result of a cheap app to trace the image automatically (Vector Q). The curves use far too many nodes, more than required for a clean trace, but you can use this as starting point and remove superfluous nodes manually, or just use the nodes as position indicator for manually trace the 20% or required nodes. beach traced.afdesign Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Feel free to use it or adjust as desired.
