malkazoid Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) I apologize in advance for not attaching images for this - it's late at night, and I'm on a system with a keyboard that has no printscreen key, and no other software for screenshot making while the mouse is held to show the clone source and clone brush. Around the contours of the brush, I'm getting a darkened outline of pixels that is absolutely not present in the source layer. The center of the clone brush is 100% loyal to the source layer, but the outer edge gets dark. This is visible both around the brush before making a stroke, and in the stroke once applied. The effect is similar to having a small outer black glow at medium opacity. Any ideas why this might be happening? I'm very new to Affinity Photo and am stumped by this. EDIT - Sorry, just realizing this probably belongs in another part of the forum... I'd delete it if I could, but I see no way to. Edited April 18 by malkazoid Quote
malkazoid Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Update - switched off wet edges, and the contour is gone... Quote
malkazoid Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 (edited) What a roller coaster! The contour still builds up if I make a succession of low opacity strokes one over the other. Hmm... Edited April 18 by malkazoid Quote
malkazoid Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Ok - I think I know what's going on. The cloning is happening inside a group that has an unsharp mask and curves applied to it, and so is probably inheriting those adjustments. It can be difficult to understand this when the group is expanded, and the filters applied to it sit under it like layers, instead of represented as icons on the layer bar itself. I'll get used to it! Quote
