I was surprised to not find this functionality present, so much so that I suspect it might be hiding in plain sight, in which case please someone tell me what I missed!

The most basic way of judging whether one is heading in the right direction with a filter is to toggle it on and off while in the process of making adjustments to it. Is it better with the current setting, or without the filter entirely?  A simple toggle in the filter UI would do the trick.

I can see it is possible to toggle the filter on and off in the Layers panel, but that's not always practical because if the live filter is nested under the layer it applies to, and the hierarchy is collapsed, then the filter appears as an icon next to the layer preview icon, and has no toggle.  Not great to have to expand the hierarchy in order to do the toggling...

Thanks!

With most (if not all, I’ve not checked) Live Filters, or Adjustments, you can use the keyboard to set the Opacity of the filter you are currently adjusting, which is pretty-much the same as setting it ON/OFF.

Press the zero key to set 100% Opacity, or zero zero (in quick succession) to set 0% Opacity, or, for example, five for 50% Opacity, or two three (in quick succession) for 23% Opacity.

(This probably won't work while you are editing a text field in the Live Filter or Adjustment.)

You’re welcome.

It’s worth noting that the Opacity keys don’t just work in Live Filters and Adjustments, they also work elsewhere too, and can sometimes, for example, lead to layers ‘disappearing’ when set to 0% Opacity by an accidental pressing of the zero key.

Hi @malkazoid,

Another possible option would be to tag the Live Filter Layers with a colour and then create a Query in the States panel based on the Layer Tag colour.

This would allow you to toggle the Live filter (or any filter) layers on and off using the 'eye' icons in the States panel, even when they're nested under the layer they're applied to, without the need to expand the layers in the Layers panel...

You can apply different colour tags to different filter layers depending on what you want to achieve and how you wish to toggle them, use a single query, select the appropriate tag colour(s) and then toggle those filters on and off as required...

THANK YOU!  That's an unexpected feature, and a welcome one... I imagine it can be super handy.
