Greg1234 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 So I've been using this software for years and installed it on my new laptop Windows 11 Home, and more often than not I'm getting a screen freeze and nothing working, and the Shut down, Restart or wait for programme to respond box. Any help on why this is happening when I try top open a PagePlus image file. The software opens and loads perfectly, but then seems to want to stop when I open a file. Any help would be great, or I will have to lead a new software haha! Thanks

Bad_Wolf Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I am afraid your software is too old for Windows 11. That is the problem with legacy software, which is no longer maintained. Maybe PagePlus X9 will still work on Windows 11. However, continuing to work with this old software is very risky, especially when you use it professionally. Why not change to the Affinity Suite or only Publisher when you do not need Designer and Photo? When I switched to the Affinity Suite (when Designer, Photo, and Publisher became available) back in 2016, I missed the Plus software very much. However, I didn't look back and just went for it. I didn't regret my decision after a while. Another reason to switch is that the Plus software's file format is incompatible with the Affinity software. The longer you work with the Plus software, the bigger this problem can become when your old software no longer works as now is the case. Think about this seriously, because it isn't nice to loose work because your software is too old and no longer support modern operating systems.

Doesn’t Win 11 allow the user to set a compatibility mode for older programs that don’t otherwise run correctly? PaulEC Posted April 17 Posted April 17 I use Windows 11; I can confirm that PagePlus X9, DrawPlus X8 and PhotoPlus X8 all work perfectly well on it, with no compatibility issues. That’s all well and good, but the topic title refers to PagePlus X4 (five versions earlier and six years older than PagePlus X9). That's true! But at least it indicates that it isn't a non-starter to try to run the Legacy "Plus" software on Windows 11. Apart from a few extra features and bug fixes, I honestly don't remember what changes there were from one version to the next! Me too neither! You might find some online reviews that tell you, but failing that you’d have to trawl through the manuals or the programs themselves to read the What’s New? sections for yourself.
