jimh12345 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I want to change the presets for the Crop Tool: add some new ones, and delete unused categories (so I don't pick from them by mistake, and resample my photo). I select the Crop tool, click the gear icon on the toolbar, click the hamburger, and click Manage Presets. I get the Preset Manager, but all the options I want to use are disabled. Rename Preset, Delete Preset are grayed out. I click the hamburger on a category, and all the menu options are disabled except for "Import Presets" and "Restore Master Presets To Category" (whatever that means). It seems I can't do anything with the Preset Manager. Am I supposed to bring it up in some other context? Or have I done something to Presets that's broken or disabled management? Quote
loukash Posted April 16 Posted April 16 The default presets are not editable. You may want to create some custom presets first by starting a crop and adjusting its parameters. jimh12345 Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 I just spent 10 minutes searching for any way to create a preset. I can create a Category, which is helpfully placed at the very bottom of the list in the Manager, and does not even show up if I click the gear icon from the toolbar. And no way to create a Preset in my new Category. What the heck? Quote

jimh12345 Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 Ok, I set the Crop to 7 x 5, Custom Ratio. But then what? I don't see a way to add this as a Preset. Quote
loukash Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Yeah, it's not exactly intuitive, but today I was also able to figure it out without looking up the help files, so… Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Sonoma > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 18 > Affinity v2

Old Bruce Posted April 17 Posted April 17 To make a new preset the aspect ratio must be unique. For example we cannot make a new 1:1 preset. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

So, I can't make a new Preset at 7x5 that's Custom Ratio, instead of resample. Brilliant. Guys, thanks for the attempts at help. I'm walking away now. Quote

Works fine for me: I can do the same with a 5X7 ratio so I have both a 7:5 & a 5:7 entry in the popup in whatever category I put them in. including "None." So I have no idea why it isn't working for you. jimh12345 Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 AP has many excellent and powerful features. This "crop preset" implementation is not one of them. I'll just enter the crop ratio by hand every time. R C-R 1 Quote
