Sharyn Posted April 15 Posted April 15 How do I get rid of the splatter effect for this tool. Brushes is not ticked in the Window drop down, and I have tried so many things and getting no where. I know the answer is probably staring me in the face but the light bulb moment just won't turn on. This happened after I used brushes on another image, how in the world it ended up on the Inpainting Brush Tool I will never know. Thank you. Photo Beta 2 on a iMac desktop IMG_5113.MOV Quote
Old Bruce Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I would think that you could just choose a different brush. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Sharyn Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 I will give that a try and see if that is the answer, thanks Quote
Sharyn Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Gosh, I knew the answer was easy, and now I feel foolish, thanks so much. I did it for the actual brush tool when I had finished using it, but never gave the Inpainting one a thought. Quote

Sharyn Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Because I was asked if I wanted to trial it. Can't remember the exact wording as it was ages ago Alfred 1 Quote

In case it’s helpful, there’s a setting in Settings / Assistant where you can tell the software whether you want to share the brushes between tools or have different brushes for different tools – see attached image. Sharyn Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Thank you. It must be a default setting as I didn't ask for it to also be for the Inpainting Brush. This tip has been a big help. Thanks again GarryP 1 Quote

If I were you I would switch to the latest retail version unless there’s a feature you rely on which is broken there. Sharyn Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Thanks. I am having no problems with the Beta Version, but will switch back eventually. This problem was an easy fix in the end. Alfred 1 Quote
GarryP Posted April 16 Posted April 16 The betas usually have a short ‘lifetime’ as they are for testing only, and you might find that it will suddenly stop working at some point. It’s usually best to use the commercial release unless you are doing beta testing or you really need to use some functionality or fix which isn’t available in the commercial release. Note: As far as I know, the current commercial release is more up-to-date than the latest beta. Alfred 1 Quote
Sharyn Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Thank you. I shall take yours and Alfred's advice and switch back, just to be safe GarryP and Alfred 2 Quote
carl123 Posted April 16 Posted April 16 It's always been my understanding that when a beta replaces the released version, at that point in time both versions are identical as regards functionality and bug fixes Indeed, it would not make sense for the released version to contain extra stuff that had not been tested in the beta For this reason, I have no problem using the beta for all my work as I believe it's the same as the newly released 2.6.2 production version This allows me to keep the old 2.5.7 release available on my PC for a/b testing and, additionally, as a fall-back for something that used to work in 2.5.7 but now breaks in 2.6.2 loukash and jmwellborn 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. And so is the public release: Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Sonoma > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 18 > Affinity v2
