CaroleA Posted April 14 Posted April 14 If I want to share some assets/supplies, I know I would typically export them, then send the file to someone who will import them. But where are they stored? If I don't export the brushes, or the assets, or the macros, where do they go? If I need to reinstall the program, are there folders where those various assets are saved? If I need to upgrade my computer, how would I make sure I would still have all those supplies I created/imported/purchased when I reinstall the program? Quote
RobWu Posted April 14 Posted April 14 from here: the resources are stored in *.propcol files, one for each type of resource, so for example for AP there is an adjustments.propcol file, an assets.propcol file, a croppresets.propcol file, & a bunch of others. There is even a vector_brushes.propcol file, which can be populated by importing vector brushes, but that just wastes disk space since AP cannot use vector brushes. You asked about changing the name or location of these files. AFAIK, if you do either one, on the next launch of the app new *.propcol files will be created using the factory default values & location. This can be useful for resetting the vector_brushes.propcol file to its minimum size (327 bytes on my Mac) if you accidentally import any vector brushes into AP. CaroleA Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 I found the assets.propcol (and a bunch of other .propcol files) here: C:\Users\User\.affinity\Common\2.0\user So all those supplies/assets that I created/imported are stored in those .propcol files? So if I save all those files (ex: on an external HD), I can retrieve everything with them? Quote
RobWu Posted April 15 Posted April 15 To be sure, copy all related files from .affinity and the ones in AppData\Roaming\Affinity. Reinstall the apps, and see what needs to be moved back to the new PC. This should work in theory, never had to do it before Quote Windows 11 - 24H2 ⊕ ASUS PRIME X670E-Pro ⊕ AMD Ryzen 9-7900X ⊕ Arctic Liquid Cooler II ⊕ 64GB RAM ⊕ OS SSD Samsung 980Pro 2Tb ⊕ Cache SSD Samsung 870 EVO 1Tb ⊕ Video HD WD Blue 4Tb ⊕ Geforce RTX 3060 12Gb ⊕ BenQ SW270C ⊕ Dell U2412M ⊕ Affinity Photo 2.5.5 ⊕ Affinity Designer 2.5.5 ⊕ Affinity Publisher 2.5.5
