Hi

Something has been messed up on my installation with Styles. I imported affinity styles template that others have imported to get back the original text styles. I was interested in the Text Styles that had a lot more than was in my version.
I downloaded and imported.  I saw that I had imported it a few times, as there was no message that came up. So now I wanted to remove the copies which were called default 2 to default 5 I think.

I can't get anything now so I wanted to reinstall.

Having downloaded from my licence the install for V2 designer, it now want's to know where I want to install.

Turns out its in a Windows Apps folder which history shows is hidden and had issues a couple of years ago.

Can you advise what I can do please. I'd rather just have the update again that was online and that way I can keep everything I already had.

I attached the Styles File FYI.

Thanks

Please note the difference between the standard MSI/EXE application type and the sandbox MSIX. You can choose the installation type before downloading the application.

Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.7.2948 (Retail)
Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605.
Dell Latitude E5570, i5-6440HQ 2.60 GHz, 8 GB, Intel HD Graphics 530, 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605.

Update

I did the MSIX and it appeared to go fine.

Now when I import styles it defaults to find files ending in .afstyles
I take to the folder where I KNOW this one exists, but I cannot choose it.
If I open a separate file manager window, I can see it there, but I cannot see it in the Import Styles option.
Why?

What is the file you're trying to choose? What folder is it in?

Actually, from another topic you commented in, it sounds like you're confused about Styles vs Text Styles. A .afstyles file is for Styles (object styles) not for Text Styles.

And it sounds like you may have deleted the standard Text Styles and then set whatever you had as your own Text Styles as the default. Your recovery for that is to import the Text Styles you want from another .afpub document that has them, or to Reset the application.

Resetting can be done in two ways. I would start with the first one, and if that doesn't work try the second.

First way: Open the application Settings. In the Miscellaneous section you'll find a Reset Text Styles option. Try it. If it doesn't work, use the second way.

Second way:

  1. Make sure no Affinity V2 applications are running.
  2. Press and hold Ctrl while starting Publisher.
  3. When you get the Clear Application Data dialog, release Ctrl.
  4. Deselect all options in the list.
  5. Select the option to Reset Text Styles in the section for all Affinity applications.
  6. Press Reset (or Clear) to perform the function.

Ok. I did what you said but in Designer.
I still can't find text styles.
I still can't import styles, as when ever I do, the file isn't showing which is logical as I've shown in another image.

If I click on the little hamburger menu it's not there either.

Baffled

The Related Topic is here as well. Sorry about this Walt.

As Walt already wrote, the *.afstyles file you attached is a file with object styles, not the text styles you require.

P.S. what is the screenshot supposed to show?

Try looking in the Window > Text submenu of AD V2. You should see something like this:
