Hello,
I wanted to resize a 7' x 5" photo to fit in my wife's locket. Is there a way to do that in one of Affinity's apps without losing the photo's quality? Or do I need some other software, and, if so, do you have suggestions? Or is it just not possible to do this?

Thank you,
Dave

No problem. Open your file in AfPhoto, and make whatever edits you want to get it looking good.

Document > Resize Document. For my example, I started with a large image that was 3240 X 4050 pixels. The document was set to 96 PPI, so that translated to a physical size of 33.75 X 42.188 inches.

Below, I selected "Inches" as my Units, and resized the document so it is 3" wide (choose whatever width or height you want). The other dimension will be scaled to keep the aspect ratio the same. Notice that I DID NOT check the Resample box. Since we are not resampling, no pixels will be added or discarded and your original pixel dimensions will remain unchanged. So, you still have an image with 3240 X 4050 pixels, they're just packed closer together. You can Save before or after resizing and your data will all remain intact (as long as Resample is UN-checked).

(If you check the Resample Box, AfPhoto will add or delete pixels, which is a destructive operation. If you wanted, you could Resample and choose 3 inches wide and 300PPI. This will throw away a lot of pixels and your new "resampled" file will be 900 px wide by 1125 px high. if you do resample just for printing, be sure to Save your file before resizing if you want to keep your original document. After printing, you can close without saving if you don't need to keep your downsized print version, or save it with a new name if you want to keep it).

File > Print, assuming you want your image to be 3 inches wide. Leave scaling when printing at 100% because you have already set the dimensions you wanted.

If sending it out for printing, you will need to follow the service provider's instructions. They may have you upload your file and request a specific format, sizes, etc.
