schelob Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I used symbols to create a logo that requires symmetry. At one point the symbols just lost connection to their source, I guss. I'd expect if you edit one instance of a symbol, no matter what instance, all other copies of that same symbol are being updated. Otherwise this doesn't make sens. When I noticed the link was broken, albeit in the layers panel it still was a symbol. I deleted that stale copy and dragged in the symbol again.. see screenshot... whatever that is... it DOES NOT LOOK GOOD!! Fix this. It's bloody annoying. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted April 10 Staff Posted April 10 Welcome to the forums @schelob, It's possible that 'Sync' was disabled within the Symbols panel when an object within that symbol instance was edited. This causes those attributes to become de-synced/unlinked from the symbol, indicated by the orange dotted line. If you hover over the layer name you'll be able to see what object attributes have become unlinked, like in the example screenshot below. I had 'Sync' toggled off and edited the stroke, so this attribute was unlinked within that specific symbol layer. Once an object's attribute is unlinked, it can no longer be linked again, so you'll need to drag out a fresh instance of that symbol from the panel. Quote
