Filling in segments

Hi,

I've created the following with a circle and the pen tool.

 

I want to fill the segments with different colours.

I feel like the Shape Builder Tool is the answer, but I can't quite get there...

I don't think Shape Builders Tools is the right tool;
then, you need to figure out if you want to color the segments or the spaces between the segments.

Merge the elements Layer -> Geometry -> Merge Curves and use the Vector Flood Fill Tool

Just used that technique. I'm having the same problem as I do with the Shape Builder tool in that I can't seem to section off all the segments for some reason.

The Shape Builder Tool and the Vector Fill Tool both need 'enclosed' areas to work with.

I suspect that some of the curves don’t cross (or touch) the circle quite properly.

Yes, my guess, too. When creating the separating sections, make sure that you have object geometry snapping turned on:
