Is there any way to let the master page and its settings from one chapter in a book of many chapters, apply to all chapters so that any change in the original master page will automatically affect the other chapters?

Also the same question applies to styles, is it possible to make a change to a style in one chaptyer and let those changes propogate throughout the entire book?

Those things should happen automagically if you’re using a single file for the entire book, so I’m going to hazard a guess that you currently have one file per chapter. You really only need to do that if the book would otherwise be unmanageably huge, or if there are multiple contributors working independently.

Thanks for the reply. Is it then possible to merge all the chapters of a book into one new file as you suggest?

You can merge documents with the ‘Add Pages from File’ command.
