2.6.2 crashes just as much on Windows as 2.6.0 did.  As soon as I reopen images I'm working on, crash.  While I'm in the middle of working on a layer, crash.  Before I can even save the newest steps, crashe.  When I reopen, I'm back starting over again with many steps having to be redone because all changes were gone.  It's getting me nowhere fast and I have a timeline to get my work done.  I don't want to uninstall and reinstall every time the program doesn't work right.  I have a mess of installed brushes I don't want to have to relocate and reinstall each time if they disappear under a reinstall.  Not complaining about the program, just the glitches and that I'm not able to finish my works in reasonable time since I have to keep starting nearly over.

2.6.0 was removing my studio settings upon crashing, leaving an empty page after reopening the program.  So far, that's not happening with this update, fingers crossed, at least the whole studio doesn't disappear now.

I'm finding that when I move from using the eraser and go to using say, the smudge brush, the tool never changes from the eraser.   I'm continually going back and forth to the eraser and to the "basic" brush, which returns back to the previously used brush and only after seeing it not erasing properly, do I realize this.

When I change brushes, and then click on the layer, the brush reverts back to the previous paintbrush and I have to keep clicking back and forth between the layer and the paintbrush to check if it's on the right one.

Also, named parent and children layers resort back to being named "background" instead of the layer name I gave it after reopening.

Thanks in advance for any ideas and help.

Hi thanks for replying.  Here it is.  I have to say I need to spend some time learning more about the underground settings on the program and what they do.  I'm a jump in and start doing kind of person that learns to fix challenges as they show up.
I also want to say that I have a cheaper laptop (financial hardship when my last laptop died), so the graphics card is integrated and not performance oriented.  Hoping this project will help me financially so I can get something better (laptop wise) to help with my work.
I am grateful for any help as I go.  I know sometimes people that are more advanced get a little irritated that newbies post some things they "should already know", so forgive me on that part. 🥴

HI, things you can try are the following:

1. Make sure that the RAM Usage Limit is set to only half of the installed RAM

2. Turn off Hardware Acceleration.

3. Change the renderer to WARP.

Ok, thank you.  I do at least have 12gig RAM, so that's a little helpful.  I've taken the steps and am now restarting.  Will check back after I've given it a chance at the new settings.

Still crashing.  And now another issue has popped up...two actually.  (we have had another update since my last post).
Now when recovering from a crash, all the images in my layers tab are gone.  Also, using the smudge brush causes an immediate crash.
I have no other programs running, except whatever is in the background.  I have no idea what is going on, but it makes working on an illustration take so long, and is very frustrating to say the least.  I don't see an end to this project because it takes so long to keep redoing what I've already done and didn't get saved before the next crash comes.  I'm almost having to save after every step or brush stroke in order not to lose my work every few minutes.
I don't know if it matters, but I'm using an XP-Pen drawing tablet...Artist 16
