Created Brush Color Not Matching Image

I created a design in Affinity Designer (designer persona) to make a brush, then exported the design as a .png file.  I imported the png file to create a “New Textured Image Brush”.  When I use the newly created brush, the color of the brush does match the color of the image I exported to create the brush.  Any thoughts / help???

 

In the attached screenshot, the “Base” artboard contains the original design (curves) to create the image for the brushstroke.

 

On “Artboard1”, the top item is the brush stroke.  The bottom item is the png image used to create the brushstroke.

@SondraF Can you check to make sure that when using the new brush the fill is set to None.
