Anton Rehrl Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Ive just tried opening some DNG files (created in LR) and they appear to only have a green channel when developing them. These may ave been compressed using the lossless compression as they are from a Canon R5 and R6 cameras. So different cameras but same problem. Ive confirmed they open in PS and LR. Capture One does not even recognize these files. Weirdly they also appear to only have a green channel when viewed on the Mac using quickview and Preview. Mumbrella Boomtowm-5582.dng Quote
NotMyFault Posted April 2 Posted April 2 All colors are present. It seems the gamma encoding got wrong. use the scope panel to see that the histogram is not identical. if I add levels adjustment and use 0.5 for red and blue channel the image becomes somehow normal. NotMyFault Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Can you provide a jpeg export so we can use this as reference how the channels are actually deviating? NotMyFault Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Did you shoot the images with „HDR Shooting / HDR PQ“ active? The image look very HDR style. As of todays, even Canon cameras and their DPP App struggle to edit those images, I.e. edit and format conversion functions are separated from regular gamma encoded images, and much more limited for PQ encoded files. Many viewers are unable to correctly render HEIF files from Canon, including Windows 11 Photo. Can you upload a test image in unmodified CR3 format? (and matching DNG and out of Camera JPG or HEIC)? https://cam.start.canon/en/C012/manual/html/UG-04_Shooting-1_0110.html Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Anton Rehrl Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Love the username I took a screenshot of what the default should look like. Not sure if that will help. Im new to reporting issues so let me know if this is the correct place or not 👍 Quote
NotMyFault Posted April 2 Posted April 2 This place is probably wrong as the issue is not related to beta apps. actually I don’t think it is a bug as other apps have the same issue. if in doubt always start in the questions section. Not really, I try to help as regular user, unpaid, and this screenshot requires me to do lots of extra steps. I need the image in same size and resolution as the dng file. Staff Chris B Posted April 3 Staff Posted April 3 I cannot get the DNG to open on Windows. I've tried a few other apps and it's definitely a mixed bag. I'll log it and see if we can find any further info from the developers. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
