Use the text/paragraph tool and align the text within the text frame to bottom first.

I'm sorry but I'm confused. What is the "text/paragraph" tool? Do you mean put them in the same text frame and then use the paragraph panel to align them?

Sorry, your image didn't load at first so that confused me. When I use the align function to the bottom, the text seems to protrude underneath the frame. Is this normal? Am I missing something?

Thanks again,

The two texts in your first (initial) video are visually bottom aligned; you need to compare similar characters, e.g. both with a straight, not rounded shape.

Usually rounded shapes are designed on purpose to exceed their bottom line slightly (or a left/right/top box edge) for a visual balanced impression. Like the letter W exceeds the text frame slightly compared to the letter M for instance, even with Optical Alignment set to "None". (If set to "Font", i.e. by the type designer, the difference is even larger.) (e.g.: the yellow marked areas should have the same size)

In this video the text seems to have a Baseline Shift applied to the character. With a Text Tool ("A" or "T" tool icon) select all text within the text frame + make sure this offset is set to 0 pt (i.e. with all text selected, choose 0 from the menu or type 0 again, even if it displays currently 0)

I did this but still getting the same result. Is it possible that there is an issue with the font itself?

I don't know your font file but I'd say no. There are a few settings that may influence a text position, e.g. an activated Baseline Grid.

I recommend to reset the current formatting: Select a text frame with the Move Tool + press the "Revert defaults" button in the Toolbar. (if you don't know tools and buttons etc., it may help to set the Tooltip Delay to 0 in the app preferences). And/or start from scratch with a new "virgin" text frame.

The character still goes below the frame, but I think I know why. The text I'm using is called "bravura text", and this specific text is a time signature, and its middle is supposed to be in the center staff line, which means the middle of the character is at y=0

Could that be the explanation?
