Hi there. I am trying to export PDF from Publisher for online viewing...and getting bigger filesize than with prepress file. PLS see "Estimated File Size" in attached screens.

What am I doing wrong?

I am not sure what do you mean. There are pictures of 2 exports: one should be (according to preset name and raster dpi) small and another is for press. But "small" one is half size bigger. Estimated size is more or less size of exported files.

When you export the document to “PDF (digital – small size)”, is the actual exported PDF file size similar to that of the estimate which was given in the Export dialog for that export?

When you export the document to “PDF/X-4”, is the actual exported PDF file size similar to that of the estimate which was given in the Export dialog for that export?

Okay, thanks.

What are the Colour Space and ICC Profile of the document?

I’m wondering if the ‘digital’ export needs to convert from CMYK to get to RGB as per the settings?

I probably can’t help with this much further than asking questions but the answers to those questions might help someone who can help further.

I do not think RGB/CMYK can make this difference. It can take some time to convert, but cannot affect size I gess. Of course CMYK for prepress and RGB for devices. ICC profile can be like 1 MB size.
