manroe
Hi, this little thing here, how could it be done in Aff-Designer, especially the lines on the earth? In Illustrator the lines from a grid could be projekted to the "earth".. Thanks for any help
PixelPest
Well - I´d take Inkscape with its "Wire-Sphere"-extension to generate one - even when I want to draw it in AD. Your example looks "inconsistent". ( I still miss a parametric circle tool in AD. The pie or segment tools are not a replacement) Cheers P. catlover
Manroe, Yes, this can be done in Affinity Designer. It just takes a bit of effort. See the HowTo PDF attachment. As for the other partsd of your design, see the excellent AFD tutorials on Vimeo. Good luck ! https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/tutorials/designer/ manroe, MattP and anon1

Alfred
Ok - this is a globe with 4 poles. Interesting. :D What's the matter, PixelPest? Haven't you ever heard of "the four corners of the globe"? :P Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)

Herbert123
Another option: Blender & Freestyle SVG output. If anyone is interested, I can put up a small video tutorial. And it works with any type of 3d object, of course :-) The only caveat is that the generated SVG files must be opened and saved in Inkscape before the file is compatible with Designer's SVG import (other applications have issues with these SVG files as well, btw). The edges that must be converted to curves can be marked specifically. True 3d spheres at your fingertips! :D I have attached a Designer file for anyone who wishes to inspect the curves.. spheres_freestyle.afdesign MattP and Alfred

manroe
Hello PixelPest, I couldn´t find "Wire-Sphere" on the page of INKSCAPE ... ?
PixelPest
I´m using a MacOSX native devel-version - but it should be in the stable releases since 0.48 at least the handbook says it: (http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Extensions-Render.html#Extensions-3D_Polyhedrons last entry - scroll down) Look up Extensions->Render->Wireframe Sphere ... manroe
...I´ve found it, it was included :)
Alfred
...I´ve found it, it was included :) Yes, that was a little bit confusing the first time I saw it in Inkscape. Calling it 'Extensions' makes it sound as though it isn't included, so I thought I would need to download it from somewhere and then install it.
