If I use a mouse as my input device, the smudge brush seems to sample and stamp colour (or transparency in transparent areas) when single-clicking with the mouse. Note, however, if the mouse button is held in and the brush is dragged then the colour stamp does not appear. This single-click behaviour doesn't occur with my drawing display and stylus. The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release. Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
