NaterXander Posted March 19 Posted March 19 When I open this file the bmp images disappear. I can see them in the layers on the side and if I zoom out really far they reappear as well. But if I try to export them or anything, they just export as white. I've tried searching for hours on why it's doing this and how to fix it and can't figure it out. I saw multiple people say to go into the channels and right click on background alpha and select fill, but I don't have a background alpha channel for any of them. I'm losing my mind right now. Update: Adding pictures to better explain the issue. The canvas is completely white and doesn't show the image when zoomed in at any percentage higher than 50%. Below 50% zoom it will show the images. Doing any types of edits to the photo will reflect in the image until I zoom in above 50% again and then everything goes white. No matter what I do to the photo, exporting as any type exports it as a plain white box. Sims2Cars.afphoto Quote
R C-R Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I am seeing the same thing with your file. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the problem is. DuncanL Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Why are you using BMP format? It's very old and inefficient of storage space. Using PNG (which is compressed but also lossless, so won't change the image quality at all) works perfectly, and give you smaller documents. JPG would be smaller again; but at the cost of image quality, so I'd not go there except possibly for final output if it's for online use. That's certainly what I'd do! And gives you an immediate solution; rather than waiting for a possible future fix. Sims2Cars.afphoto Quote

If all we have to work with is the OP's file from the first post, how did you get a PNG version of it ... & why does your version have layers? DuncanL Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Use the Resource Manager to make the images linked. Convert those files to PNG (I used XNView, but the tool is immaterial). Use the Resource Manager to replace the BMP image with the new PNG versions. Use the Resource Manager to embed those images. Save. R C-R 1 Quote
NaterXander Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 I didn’t choose bmp files, that’s just what the screenshots from the game were formatted as and I didn’t realize until I was on a different computer and it wasn’t working. Once I got back on the original computer and pulled them up in photo they worked perfectly fine. Not sure why they didn’t work when transferred to a second computer. Quote
GarryP Posted March 20 Posted March 20 In Photo 2.6.0 on Windows I can see the image at zoom levels of 50% and below, but not zoom levels above that, so it’s not a macOS-only thing. Interestingly (perhaps), with the Navigator Panel open, when I am viewing the document at 50% and I delete the bottom layer, the Navigator Panel view goes completely white – see attached video. 2025-03-20 08-10-45.mp4 Quote
Staff stokerg Posted April 23 Staff Posted April 23 Hi @NaterXander, We did have an issue pre 2.6.2 where some BMP files would open blank. This has now been resolved and on checking your file in 2.6.2 i can't replicate the issue Quote
