I'm looking for a little bit of assistance. I'm using Affinity Publisher v2.6.0 on an MacBook Pro.

I have a 32 page A5 sized book (148mm wide x 210mm high) that I want to print out as an imposed document on my A3 Canon iX6850 inkjet printer. I read that I should use Booklet for this, ensure that I include bleed, and add crop marks. All of which I've done.

However the prints aren't coming out as I had expected. The information on the bleed area doesn't seem to print, and the crop marks appear to be printed where the edge of my document's bleed area is, and not where the actual edge of the page is. I need to be able to trim these printed pages down so that I can create a dummy for my client.

In Adobe InDesign this feature is easy to do. But it feels rather hit-and-miss in Affinity Publisher? Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve what I want to do? Thanks in advance.

It's difficult to know what happens remotely…

Here is a file I use to check if bleed is well honoured. Red and blue triangles extend into the bleed zone; green and orange ones are aligned on the trim zone edge (finished size).
I don't see any problem if I follow your workflow (only at the end of the process, I save my print as PDF because I don't have any printer at hand):

Thank-you for your response with the screenshots. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

It is clear that I need to do some more investigation on how Affinity Publisher prints its documents to my Canon Inkjet printer. The bleed area in my document was definitely not printing, when I created a booklet. But it is good to know that it works for others.

Just following up on my original post for anyone who may be following this topic.

I'm not really sure what the problems were with the original document, that I was trying to print from Affinity Publisher, but it really wasn't behaving. However I've now had more time to experiment with AP. I created a simple 8 page booklet, rather like the one @Oufti put in their response to my post.

The imposition and printing of this test booklet went well. As you can see from the images below, crop marks and bleeds appeared as expected. When I assembled the booklet, most of the elements aligned perfectly too. My only challenge now is to find a way to get the paper to align in my inkjet printer, for the occasions when I need to print on both sides.

I like a lot your "stained-glass" judokas!

Not mine, unfortunately. Just some stock illustrations that I had here. But I thought they were rather attractive too!

Don’t you mean “gawr-juhs”? :P
