Its_Jinx Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Hi, when I export a picture I've been working on, this happens... Anyone have any clue as to why? Bound by Beans 1 Quote
Its_Jinx Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 It also happens in the viewer if I zoom in or out Quote
Hangman Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Hi @Its_Jinx and welcome to the forums, If you go to the Affinity Photo Performance Settings and disable Hardware Acceleration, reboot Photo and then export, does that rectify the issue? Bound by Beans Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Aha, I actually had it on my to-do list to report a similar issue in Publisher, which gets resolved by disabling acceleration on macOS. Thanks for the tip. There must be something fundamentally flawed in Affinity’s architecture when I encounter the same issue with images in Publisher on macOS (PDF export). This is a completely impossible problem for the average customer to relate to hardware acceleration. Completely. Everyone then has to seek support individually. This is truly, truly an issue that needs to be fixed, Serif and Canva. A tip from Publisher: I only experience this error during export when I disable "Allow JPG compression" under export. Allow me to emphasize that it would be magnifabulous to be able to use the hardware on our expensive and capable computers. That is certainly my plan. Quote
Its_Jinx Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 Thank you, that did indeed solve it. However one big struggle I also have with Affinity and it's basically all I use photoediting software for is that I need png and webp pictures with transparent backgrounds. I'm making cards for my tabletop game and I am adding cards they can click to open their character sheets on maps where there arent any player tokens. But no matter what I do, Affinity doesn't save pictures with transparency! This was easy to do in Photoshop. I just get pictures with white backgrounds, and I even try with a new layer like in this picture to make sure they're actually transparent by making a new layer and draw green lines under it Hangman 1 Quote
Bound by Beans Posted March 16 Posted March 16 @Its_Jinx Did you select "Transparent background" when creating the image? When created, you can toggle Document -> Transparent Background. Quote
Bound by Beans Posted March 16 Posted March 16 If not, create a new document with a transparent background and copy the objects over. Quickest fix. Document -> Transparent Background. Quote

In APhoto it shouldn't matter if it was created with a transparent background or not, you can just change it in the Document Menu. I'm used to File -> Document Setup in Designer and Publisher. (That shortcut does not work here neither is it assigned in shortcuts) Quote

It must be your own – I just had to visit my Windows machine and checked 2.5.7, where the shortcut isn't set either. 🙂 PaulEC 1 Quote
