matteo90 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Hi everyone, I am writing from Italy and excuse me for posting here but I don't know exactly where to ask. I come from Adobe inDesign and I have a question. With Affinity Publisher is it possible to have a text area of the width of a page within which to have for example the title on one column and the paragraph of the article automatically divided into two columns? I've looked in the PDF unoffical guide but being in English (and quite long), I couldn't find the answer. Thank you very much, Matteo Quote
MikeTO Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Hi @matteo90 and welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, you cannot split or span columns in Affinity like you can in InDesign. This feature is frequently requested by users so hopefully it will be added in the future. matteo90 1 Quote Download a free PDF manual for Affinity Publisher 2.6 Download a quick reference chart for Affinity's Special Characters Affinity 2.6 for macOS Sequoia 15.5, MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) and iPad Air (M2)
Greg E Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I do this frequently, and it is not at all difficult, although some users have disparaged it as a "workaround". Simply drag out a text box full width for your title (and/or subtitle and byline), and either drag out two linked text boxes for your story, or a single text box formatted as two columns. I prefer the use of two text boxes for my use (a monthly newsletter), since I may have three or more columns spanning a spread. An additional advantage of this method (again, for MY workflow) is that you can fit the story text precisely by selecting all the story text (click 5 times quickly), and alter the leading globally until it fits. If the title is in the same text box, you have to do more work to avoid selecting it as well. I hope this helps! Quote

Thanks Greg. I can try your method. Quote
