Shepton Rich
I am having trouble cropping my images I like to crop them to 6 x 4 so I change the mode to 6 x 4 and the crop grid appears in the top lefthand corner of my image then when I stretch the grid across my image it loses the 6 x 4 format. I have watched the tutorials and believe I am doing it correctly but I may be missing a trick any advice would be much appreciated.
JimmyJack
It sounds like you want 6:4 not 6x4. You want a proportional relationship right? Not an absolute size. Go to Custom Ratio and type in 6 and 4. Now when you stretch, the proportions remain the same. That "6x4" you see in the dropdown is a pre-done preset of Absolute Dimensions. (I think this is leading to some confusion because in PS both steps can be done at once. Which means that PS crop is also doubling as a resample engine which I don't think most people realize. Off of the top of my head I can't remember if PS crop offers resample options i.e bilinear, bicubic etc, or if it makes that decision for you ;) Adobe style ). In AP crop, dimensions are dimensions. If you'e selecting 6x4 and then dragging the sides then it's no longer 6x4. But by grabbing the middle part of the grid you can position the 6x4 grid anywhere. Shepton Rich
Thanks JimmyJack just the job I have now set up a preset to suit. I knew it would be something simple but I just couldn't work it out.
Dana Olsen
When I crop and resize my photos for actual size , say 10 in by 8 in.and low dpi, say 150, for sending, thru email ,the photo remains at 17+ MB.Normally in photoshop it would show up at say aprox.1000K. What am I not doing to resize . I have used CS3 photoshop for over 10 years and this is frustrating. I like the Affinity app in my new Mac because it is very affordable.Everything else works great. Fixx
Well, does the resolution get low or not? That is, is there a bug in resolution change or is it in saving the file? Do you save as (export) JPG? What JPG quality setting? And last, if you are using Apple's Mail app, you can set the resolution/compression in the Mail message window (small, medium, large, actual) if you use standard formats.
