Figmatt
Dialog boxes should close with ESC key ...which would run the same code as either Cancel or Close. And optionally the enter key ...which would be the same as the OK, Save, or Default button. Buttons should be able to be tabbed to. Space should activate the currently selected button, regardless of whether it is the default button or not. This is all pretty much standard Mac OS X behaviour. Staff Andrew Tang Posted October 27, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 27, 2014 Dialog boxes should close with ESC key ...which would run the same code as either Cancel or Close. Yes. We will slowly get around into doing this. Buttons should be able to be tabbed to. You should already be able to do that otherwise it is a bug. You need to make sure you allow Buttons to be tabbed to in the OSX system preferences - otherwise only list and edit boxes can be tabbed to which is the default when you install OSX. System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> All Controls Space should activate the currently selected button, regardless of whether it is the default button or not. If your button is the key focus then this is already possible as we just use the default OSX button behaviour.

Figmatt
Over 8 years later and I still keep closing documents with Cmd+W when I mean to close Preferences!
hjh88
I find it impossible that this has not been fixed yet - now version 2 - still no fix?

I think this is a separate issue from being unable to close a dialog with Esc so perhaps it would be best to create a new thread. I agree that this is an issue and I do it regularly, too. 4 hours ago, hjh88 said: I find it impossible that this has not been fixed yet - now version 2 - still no fix? It is largely fixed now so if you know of dialogs in which it doesn't work, post a bug report in the v2 bugs forum rather than here in the v1 archive. I've reported a few which Serif has fixed. Figmatt
Well it was happening as recently as March 2023, see my post above. I can't be bothered opening a new thread as the likelihood of it being fixed is almost zero.
