There was a quick update recently to fix bugs for the iPad version specifically. Try this update.

Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.

Version 1 and version 2 are separate apps.  If you had purchased the version 1 app and no longer have it installed, you should be able to reinstall it from the purchases list on the App Store.

If you did not purchase it while it was still available, you won't be able to now.

All that being said, please search the bug report forum for the problems you are having and report them if no one else already has.  Otherwise they may not be fixed as quickly since they may go undiscovered if others are not experiencing and reporting them.

We have actually tried integrating iPads with laptops and desktop macOS computers - but aside from the fact that the iPad versions are poor tablet conversions of Affinity with little regard for a proper tablet interface, we’ve realized they pose a risk.

iPadOS, like iOS, is built securely - with a strict security model that prevents downgrading apps once installed. This, combined with automatic app updates (I can’t recall if that’s the default setting), means that iPad Affinity could update to v2.6.0 while we have 2.5.7 locked until we feel safe upgrading.

Serif’s file format, which in theory can change between minor updates (e.g., to 2.6.0), plus automatic updates guarantees issues. The awful lack of an option to save in a slightly older format (even if it meant losing some data) makes the risk even greater. Automatic updates can be disabled, but that affects all apps, which is also a security risk.

Even worse, Affinity on iPad (and desktop, too) provides zero warning when overwriting older formats with newer ones. And unlike the desktop version, the iPad version doesn’t even indicate in beta builds when opening a release-version file.

It’s a nightmare of issues requiring vendors to be extra diligent. A bad update, and the customer is screwed until a fix arrives - if it arrives at all.

Serif, did you foolishly fill the usability specialist role you advertised internally? If so, be transparent with your customers. Continuing without proper UX expertise both insults and affects your entire customer base.

Did you purchase it under a different Apple ID, or when you were located in a different country?

In addition to the questions @Alfred brought up, make sure you are looking in the list of applications you already purchased (check the "Not on this iPad" tab on the Apps page under your account), not trying to search the store.  A search of the store won't find the version 1 apps because they were withdrawn when the version 2 apps were released.

The default ‘All’ tab in the Purchased panel will also show version 1 if applicable, but the essential point is that you won’t be able to find it by searching the store.
