NCOLEAMY Posted March 1 Posted March 1 After using the Mesh tool in Affinity Designer, I went to my styles panel find only the original default styles. It has deleted every single one of my personal styles. It has also deleted every single one of my personal assets. My personal brushes are still intact. Quote
GarryP Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Assuming that “using the Mesh tool in Affinity Designer” means that you went to the Pixel Persona and applied a Live Mesh Warp Filter to an existing layer, I tried that and my Styles and Assets seem to be unaffected. I would not expect that applying a Live Filter (or using the Warp Group functionality, if that’s what was used) to have any effect on the Styles or Assets so what you seem to have reported would be very unusual. Would you be able to give us a step-by-step recipe by which we can re-create the problem for ourselves? Quote
NCOLEAMY Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 Hi Garry, Unfortunately, I am not able to give you guys a step by step. I don't believe using the mesh tool would cause my assets and styles to be hijacked. I mentioned the Mesh tool only to establish that, at the time of the Assets and Styles disappearing, I was actively using the program and... that there was no upgrading to the most recent version or anything else that could have caused this issue. I see my original message was pretty discombobulated. Sorry, about that. I sent it while my brain was still reeling in disbelief. I agree, whole heartedly, that this is not a 'normal' issue with Affinity programs, but wanted to confirm, with Affinity Support, that no one else had reported anything similar. My guess would be that it's a "Time to wipe my MacBook and revert back to Sonoma". Ha, I do adore a clean computer. Fortunately, I'm big believer in having backups of the computer as well as backups of my backups and was able to track down and repopulate the most recent propcols. Thank you much for getting back to me so quickly! Nicole Quote
GarryP Posted March 3 Posted March 3 One reason why some things ‘go missing’ is when someone tries to update the software by downloading the newest version and they choose a different installation type to that which they were previously using – e.g. MSIX versus MSI/EXE on Windows. See here for details: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/180014-how-do-i-download-affinity-v2-windows-msiexe-un-sandboxed-versions/ By doing this they get a new installation of the software which doesn’t contain their old ‘stuff’ because that ‘stuff’ is still installed in the old version – they end up with two copies of the software installed, one with their ‘stuff’ and one without. The way to rectify this problem is to uninstall the newest ‘stuff-less’ installation, and then download the ‘proper’ installer for the software and use that to update the software. I realise that this doesn’t seem to be the case for you as you say you hadn’t upgraded the software but I’m writing it here for anyone else reading this in case it’s relevant to them. Unfortunately I don’t know what happened with your software, but it’s good to know that you have been able to restore it to your satisfaction. If the problem occurs again (fingers crossed that it doesn’t) then please report it here and someone can try and help you to figure out what happened. Quote
