My styles are crashing Designer. Is there a limit on how many can be in a group or this is something related to the latest release? Thank you for your assistance.

It locks up when I get to number 142, and the task manager states that "Dial" is not responding. I have let it sit for two hours to see if it will recover itself, and it has not.

Any advice, tips, or tricks is greatly appreciated.

Thank you 💙🐾💜

Can you provide more details, @barbichn? Perhaps some screenshots illustrating what kind of styles you're dealing with, and how you have them arranged? Also, what is the Dial application that is not responding, and how is that related to Designer?

I have the Task Manager up and underneath AD Beta, It shows dial, and not responding,

When I select my styles and get around Style 141, it locks up with the blue round circle of crashing...

Here is a screenshot showing the system with it grayed out along with an export of my styles. Thank your assistance. Have a lovely day 💙🐾💜

Thanks. I don't understand what you mean by "when I select my styles". Can you explain a bit more what you're doing, or perhaps provide a screen recording? Are you adding Styles, or doing something else to them when the issue happens?

Also, what kind of computer are you using, and do you have a Microsoft Dial hardware device installed?

I have my styles open and when selecting a design, I use one of my styles for the border for my printing before I sublimate it.

The dial thing that I was talking about is from the Task Manager in Windows 11 Home Edition

Here are the details to my pc:

AW R15

13th Gen Intel i9-13900KF

64 Ram

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090

Notes, since it is obviously not related to the newest beta release. I have deleted that styles category and will start building them back up as I go.

Thank you for your assistance and this topic can be closed.

Thanks. The way you had phrased it made me think you meant you were somehow selecting multiple styles at once, not simply adding another category or style to a category.

I understood that. The only "dial" I am familiar with in Windows is the Microsoft Dial hardware, which Affinity supports but which few users have. Though there is a similar hardware function on some newer non-Microsoft PCs that emulates the Dial and probably uses the same Windows software functionality. So I was wondering if you had that, and if it might be failing in some way.

This is what comes up when I try to start designer. I even have done control. Uninstalled and reinstalled.  Now It won't load properly. Open it up and the circle keeps spinning. No, open document, nothing. Not sure what else to do. Can't really do a screenshot.

Many thanks to all for all suggestions and assistance.

Hello all,

Update: It appears that one of my styles is corrupt and causing the crash, as it happens in Beta and Regular. I am trying to figure out which one so I can delete it. I wish we could go into presets and delete that one or two from Windows Explorer instead of trying to grab it before it locks up.

That said, this inquiry should be closed, as I feel bad for wasting so many people's time on it.

A very heartfelt thank you to those who have tried to assist me.

Probably of little or no help to you but FWIW, I downloaded & installed your Barbi's Styles 3 4.afstyles on my Mac. It took maybe 20 seconds for them to load, which is longer than with most *.afstyles files I have tested. However, once installed, I could use them without causing any issues.

Likewise, when I deleted them after testing, it too 20-30 seconds (long enough for the Mac 'beachball' spinner to appear) but the category was eventually removed from my Styles panel.

So I am not sure if there really is anything wrong with any of the styles it contains.

Thank you for doing that and letting me know. Now, beta just sits there and does nothing. Regular version is fine. So weird. Thanks again to all for your assistance and guidance.

Have a lovely day

What are the version numbers of the retail & beta apps you are using?

FWIW, on my Mac running the latest 2.6.2 (3187) AD build, your Barbi's Styles 3 4.afstyles imports in less than 1 second, far quicker than in the 2.6.0 retail version.

Glad it is working for you! Lol!

I think I am going to have to do some kind of reset, which is a total bummer because I really don't have time for that. I do sublimation and have a pretty large show that I need to get items designed and made for. This timing is at its worst. Of course, this didn't happen when I had time to do something like that last month. Ugh!
