Hello,

Until version 2.5.7 fonts such as Frutiger 57 condensed were working fine in Affinity Publisher.

In version 2.6.0, some characters are not showing correctly anymore.

Before

After

This is not happening with other programs/applications, and was working perfectly before the update. It is impacting old and new documents.

Any idea what is the cause of this, and whether there is a workaround? For now I just reworked the document with a font that does not have the issue (Fira code).

Thank you!

Hi @evilmandarine and welcome to the forums.

What format is the font? Which company made it and what version is it?

There is a known issue with PostScript Type 1 fonts in 2.6.0 and perhaps this is the same issue or a related one.

Hi Mike,

I am not 100% sure but almost that indeed this is a PS font. It might be the same issue then. If this helps, the fonts with the issue do not appear in LibreOffice Writer, but they do work correctly in other software such as Wordpad (Windows).

I'll follow the other issues and wait for a fix then, thank you.

Hello, this is still happening in new 2.6.2 version.

If it is the same issue as in the link above, is there a way to have an idea of the resolution date?

The workaround is I had to change all impacted documents to Fira Sans Condensed police manually...
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Developers do not communicate that kind of information. The Affinity Info Bot will post to one of the tagged topics when it is resolved, which will likely be in a beta release.

It would be useful if you could confirm that it's a PS font. Mike asked about what version of the font you have, and who manufactured it. With that information someone might be able to confirm what it is, and whether you have the same issue that is already known.

Frutiger 57 condensed

Those antique Type 1 fonts were converted to OTF in 1999.
Since they have been around for about 25 years they are fairly easy to find.
Sent you a test link via PM. If it works, your problem is the font.

Those old initial Type 1 conversions are very minimal fonts.
A minimal character set, and a bit of legacy kerning, and that is it.

There are many newer versions which are much better.
Full character sets.
Lots of OpenType features.
Full OpenType kerning.
And made in this century.

Note: Adobe Font Folio 11 has the sort of next generation of the OpenType versions.
Includes Frutiger LT Std family (which is a step up from minimal conversions).

Hello @walt.farrell, @kenmcd,

Sorry for the late reply. I have these fonts from a CD which dates from before 2000. I got that from a graphic designer. I have no idea of the details about the font. The point is that stopped working at some point (v2.6), so that was a regression, since it was working on 2.5.x.

As of version 2.6.3, it seems to be working again ✔️
Let's hope it does not break again.

In any case, thank you for your help!
