AP66 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I'm exporting a CAD dwg file out of Vectorworks Architect and for some reason the file gets an 'afpub' file name rendering it un-openable (in AutoCAD) by my fabricator . I've binned off Affinity Publisher app and it's still happening. This is an urgent situation as it's holding up fabrication. I'm on an iMac 2020 i5 running MacOS Sequoia 15.3.1. Thanks! Quote
Komatös Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Hi @AP66 and welcome to the forums. Use the export from file menu instead of save/save as... AP66 Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 Thanks Komatos Not sure I understand you there though: I'm using the export to dwg/dxf command in Vectorworks not save as? Quote

Export as dxf from Affinity Publisher. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. AP66 Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 Thanks for the response but I'm not in Publisher and never really use it - why should I have to open that and then try to export from there? seems a weird way round? Quote
Old Bruce Posted February 27 Posted February 27 @AP66, I don't know why Vectorworks would use the afpub extension. Having re read your posts I see the problem. Is the file "A Name.afpub" or "A Name.afpub.dxf" one filename extension versus two filename extensions? What happens if you manually change the filename extension from .afpub to .dxf? AP66 Posted February 28 Author Posted February 28 It was just .afpub, no .dwg after it. I got rid of all Affinity software including extensions etc yesterday to stop it happening and emptied the bin of earlier attempts so can't re-try it just yet but it's a good suggestion and I'll give it a go when re-loaded. Who knows whether it's a Vectorworks, Affinity, MacOS issue or some combo of the 3? It's definitely a weird one! Quote
