Hi all

I've used Affinity Photo for years doing product photography. I often need to use the pen tool to draw around an object then click the Selection button to give me a selection. I can use that to mask out backgrounds etc.

Upgraded to 2.6 and there is a very unwelcome new behaviour that I do not know how to turn off. When I use the pen tool it fills!!! as I draw in whatever my foreground colour happens to be set to. Which means I can't see what I'm trying to fit my curve to!

If I either click to switch off the 'use fill' button on the right hand side of the toolbar under style OR if I click the fill button on the left of the toolbar and choose the icon with the line through it, then it stops filling, BUT it also nukes my selected foreground colour. Which means when I go to my mask I have to press D to reset my colours to default. And then the next time I use the pen tool (literally 30 seconds later sometimes) I have to switch fill off again.

PLEASE tell me there is a way to disable this? I've used the pen tool for years and NEVER had this happen. Help! I'm going slowly mad with this thing.

I'm seeing the same thing in both AP & AD 2.6. I suspect it is a bug & not intended ... at least I see no way to change it.

@Chris in NZ We do have an issue logged with our developers regarding the Pen Tool and when you click Selection it enables 'Use Fill'.

Mac only Bug? I'm not seeing this on Windows.

I have the same problem and it's crazy if I have to take a lot of photos where I need to make a precise selection, it drives me crazy

the only way I've figured out now is that before editing each photo I have to turn off STYLE when the pen tool is active, it's still quite annoying because

it can't remember the settings.

I use win10

At first this fact bothered me a lot, but then I got used to it to the point that now it comes naturally to me,
as soon as I select the Pen Tool I deselect the fill in the Style.
