New Update 2.6 with Machine Learning

Hello, 

I recently updated both my machines to 2.6 , Windows and Mac OS. I was surprised to find out that my 2020 iMac 27" Intel will not work with the machine learning features for selections!  I also was seeing a lot of comments about this same subject and it looked like intel mac owners

were not were not very happy.  I have Pixelmator Pro on my mac and it says it uses machine learning for selections, why does their program work on an intel machine? So, is it possible that Affinity Photo could work on an intel machine?

The machine learning features were available for Intel Mac users during the early part of the beta period but due to some issues the features were restricted to Apple Silicon before the final release.

Hello,  Thank You for the response, are you saying that going forward they will not fix the issues, or the issues are a legal  one from Apple?  Thank You for the PDF download and Special Characters Chart.

I can't speak to Serif's future plans. I assume they wanted it to work on Intel Macs but ran into a technical challenge.

Sad that it worked in the Beta Version, but in a final release it has disappeared for Intel Mac Machines. I think that is what will make people the most upset, Beta but no final.

But that's exactly the point of the Beta phase - to test applications in a real environment, where different user hardware plays a significant role. This can lead to performance issues and the need to solve some functions differently, even at the cost of using more performance-efficient OS services, which unfortunately are not supported by older hardware.

Psenda,    This feature was working fine for me in the Beta Version, on an Intel Mac. No crashes, no hardware problems. Seems a bit weird that if it was working, why take it out of the final version.?  I think there may be some other issue going on.

Just because it worked well for you doesn't mean that someone else had the problem - with a different PC configuration.
It could also be that they used a different interface/service, considering their potential from the perspective of OS development and maintenance.

As far as I know, this was only possible in the first Beta version - the limitation occurred a long time ago.

So it would be necessary to run a specific Beta version.
