Ale S Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Hi all, I'm starting using a lot Affinity Photo 2 to develop my fuji raw files... in the past I used Capture One. I was just wonder.. is the raw developer engine of AP2 good enough or is it better to use an external raw developer and continue with the development in AP2? What Is your experience on this? In case which ext raw developer are you using? is there anyone that is using Darktable or RawTherapee just as a replacement of the Develop persona? Photography is an hobby and I don't need to manage a lot of shot at once. Thanks in advance Ale Quote
mopperle Posted February 24 Posted February 24 While I like Affinity Photo as replacement for Photoshop, for me it is not a replacement of, in my case, Lightroom Classic. LR is IMHO far ahead of the raw development capabilities of AFPhoto. And in my case there is also another reason to stick to Lightroom, as I use it in combination with a timelapse software. I randomly checked out Darktable and RawTherapee, but IMHO their UI is a total mess. I really tried hard, but never got used to it. There are many other raw developers and they all cost a certain amount of money, for good reason. If you do not want to spend much money, why not using the raw developer that comes with your camera? The ones from e.g. Canon or Nikon are not that bad, would say at least equal to AFPhoto. And for anything that goes beyond a raw developer, you can use AFPhoto.
