jade_ Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) I updated Photo to 2.6.0 recently from some older version of 2.x (don't have auto update on, and it's an ipad so downgrading software is of course impossible, don't know what was the older version or how to find out) and found that when I import a file, it is titled Untitled unlike on the older version. Steps I followed: 1. copy 16 bit tiff with some name into affinity photo 2 app folder in Files 2. Start Photo 2 and click Open>Import Document then click on the file 3. Go back to the open-document management page that shows up when you open the app, the document is called Untitled. Problem: it shouldn't read untitled there. It should be named the stem of the imported file name like it used to be. In the export dialog, the file name is also empty (since the document is untitled) unlike in the previous version I was using. This is really annoying for my workflow because I use Affinity Photo for editing film photos and the filenames are really important to match with the original file with its edited counterpart. I can work around this by clicking the original file to use its name when exporting but this requires remembering that name which is hard. Edited February 24 by jade_ Quote
jade_ Posted February 24 Author Posted February 24 (edited) This is notably not broken when clicking on a tiff file in Files when it opens in Photo 2. Just the import dialog inside Photo 2 itself. I am confident this is a Photo 2 bug because I didn't update iOS and just updated Photo 2 midway through an editing session and hit this issue. iPadOS 18.1.1 on iPad Air 4th gen. Photo 2.6.0.3134. walt.farrell Posted February 25 Posted February 25 There is (and has always been in V2) a difference between Opening a file (e.g., clicking on a TIFF), and Importing a file. Import makes a copy, and until you Save it it will be unnamed. It sounds like you should use Open > Open Document, not Open > Import Document, to get the behavior you want.
