After the new update 2.6 there is a new function implemented to search in the brush tab.

When I search for example in my cloud brushes and type cloud 033 to search for it and the click the brush that comes up, affinity closes without warning. The next time when I repeat the same steps, click the cloud brush and then the paint brush tool, the same, crash without warning, it just dissapears. Poof its gone.

I use Affinity photo, update 2.6.0. I have Windows 10 64 bit.

Hardware excelaration is off.

@Hilde, Welcome to the forums :)

Can you elaborate on your cloud brush? Is it part of a set of brushes? If so what set and where did you obtain it?

I've searched the brushes I have installed and do not have a cloud 033 brush.

That said, I can not get AP to crash using the new Search feature.

I use the Cloud brushes from xresch. I got them from the Affinity site.

I tried different brush sets , like the one from DAUB, also from the Affinity store. I also tried the the standard brush sets, same problem, I search for one, click the paint brush tool and poof Affinity is gone... ( it closes inmediatly)

Ok, I can replicate it following your specific steps.

  1. Search for a brush
  2. Click on the brush found by the search
  3. Click on the Paint Brush tool.

I was selecting the Paintbrush tool first before searching and selecting a brush.

H/A Open CL enabled or not, the app crashes.

Thanks for finding this. :)

Welcome to the forums @Hilde,

I've replicated and logged this issue with the developers, thanks for your report.

Thank you Nathan!

Unbelievable. Confirms again that Affinity does not test their code changes adequately - only the bare minimum could have been tested at all in total isolation from actual edit workflows where the function will be used by any regular user.
