Affinity Publisher Data Merge - field name overlaps field contents

Hi all,

I am working on a publisher document with facing pages.

When data merging, fields on the left page are ok, fields on the right page are generated

I'm literally getting crazy because, all of a sudden, new pages right generated by data merge have 2 out of 4 fields where the field name overlaps the merged content.I checked all I could and cound't find anything wrong or related to a behavior like that. I suspect it's a bug with 2.6. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi @JLook and welcome to the forums,

It's a little difficult to visualise what you mean by "new pages right generated by data merge have 2 out of 4 fields where the field name overlaps the merged content" but if you could upload your Publisher document along with the Excel Data file so we can take a look or if not an option a screenshot showing the issue that would be really helpful...

If you have your Data Merge Fileds on a Master Page that will potentially cause issues in that the Merged Data will skip every nth record so you would need to remove the Data Merge Fields from the Master to place on Page one...

Fields on the left page are ok… but not generated? – Can you attach screenshots showing the issue, before + after merge?

This is from master page:

 

Basically, left and right pages should generate pages with the same information (it worked fine with 2.5.7)

Now this is what I get once I generate pages with data merge:

left page is ok.

right page: day name is overlapped by field name ("Day name").

 

 

Any idea?

just solved.

Not sure what was wrong, but these are the steps I did:

1) create manually 2-3 more pages

2) deleted the additional pages

3) tried to delete the first page (attached)

4) generate new pages - now it worked.

 

Not sure what I did wrong, but the above fixed. If you have an explanation..it will be very welcome to avoid getting in this again

This looks like an extra frame placed above or below the frame that is the actual data merge layout element. It may have been a manually but inadvertently duplicated text frame.

By the way, there are some reports where the data merge layout created explicitly on a master page caused problems.
