Hi,

When I have finished my new brush sets, I will upload them here... so that all my free brushes for Affinity Photo are all together in one location.

Finally! I have finished another set of free brushes for Affinity Photo...

This is my 'Glitter & Gold Dust' collection. They are a part of my new 2025 collection of brushes that I have been working on for a few months now, selecting (and rejecting) brushes before deciding on the final brush set. The others in the collection will be available when they are ready.

image.thumb.png.20204bd2237eaca1e8afc0b096e112cd.png

I have created my own brushes in Painter for many years and, after Adobe forced all their users to rent their software, I ditched Photoshop for Affinity Photo. I could not use my Painter brushes (of which there were many) in Affinity Photo, so I began creating my own Affinity Photo brushes, importing the images I had saved previously and re-creating the brushes I had made in Painter as I couldn't find any Affinity Photo brushes that suited my purpose. And I found that Affinity Photo is so much easier to use than Corel Painter (which I still love, don't get me wrong). I enjoy using these brushes myself and I am making them available to other Affinity Photo users (as I did with my free 'Nature' and 'Byzantium' Gold brush sets previously) so that they can experiment with them and create their own artwork.

I would love to see what you create with them. I hope you will upload some of the designs so I can see them.

Below is an image of the brushes in the 'Glitter & Gold Dust' collection.

It has taken almost as long to create the brush example file as it has to create the brushes. 😄I was still at it late last night, having been testing to see if I could create an iridescent glitter brush; creating, selecting and saving the images, bringing them into a new Image Brush, adjusting the spacing, sizing and rotating settings only to find that it just looked grey when I painted with it. Finally, I did manage to create one that I was happy with, from which I then I created the two Red Pink Orange iridescent glitter brush and a Green Blue Purple iridescent glitter brush after I had mastered it.

Anyway, I hope you like them...

My New FREE 'Textures' Brush Collection for Affinity Photo

There were so many 'Texture' brushes that I wanted to include that had to split them into 8 sections. Please  be aware of the high file sizes of some of them. They are mostly hi-res 300dpi brushes. You might like to select the ones you like and create your own unique brush collection, then uninstall the ones you don't think you will use.

Del FREE 2025 Textures_05 Mycelium
Del FREE 2025 Textures_06 White
Del FREE 2025 Textures_07 Orange Gold
Del FREE 2025 Textures_08 Lichen

NB. One or two of them were included in my first 'Textures' brush collection in the 'Nature' brushes. I included them because, along with my 'Byzantium' Gold collection of brushes, my 'Glitter & Gold Dust' brushes and my 'Gold Circles, Spirals and Annuli' brushes for Affinity Photo, these are the brushes I use in my own work.

I hope you like them.

I'd love to see some of the work you create using them...

I have included a chart image of each brush stroke and an example of some of them applied to a plant pot. I hope this helps you.

DEL's FREE 2025 Sacred Geometry Brushes for Affinity Photo

image.thumb.jpeg.87403f71ff2a3c63aea6aa81a9472859.jpeg

I have split them into 3 brush sets because of the file size. There are 188 brushes.

I hope you like them.

If you would like to follow along with a step-by-step tutorial on how I created them, please check out the link below. It's a .PDF file.

I made my new FREE brush set ‘Sacred Geometry’ for Affinity Photo users who want to experiment and have fun creating their own stash of gold and bejewelled circles, spirals and annuli from the pre-sets. They can follow the step-by-step tutorial to see how I made them, and then create their own. I had a lot of fun with them, and thought that some Affinity Photo users might like to experiment with them too and see what they come up with.

So please experiment with them and, above all... HAVE FUN! And remember to save your files regularly.

Also, it would be nice if you posted what you create so that I can see them.

You can also use my 'Byzantium' Gold brushes, 'Glitter & Gold Dust' brushes, 'Circles, Spirals & Annuli' brushes and even my 'Nature' brushes to add variation to your creations too.

Del 2025 Sacred Geometry_What's on the Brushes.jpg

I found a couple of anomalies in two brushes in Del 2025_Sacred Geometry 01.afbrushes and have updated them.

The brushes were:
Gold Ring Fine
Annulus of Fine Gold Rings

Also, I have added a few more fine gold rings to the 'Gold Ring Fine' brush and 14 more brushes (not shown above).

If you have a steady hand and you continue to click on the same point on the canvas, the new brushes that have 'Cyclic' at the end of the brush name will duplicate and rotate the brush 'dab', while the ones with 'Cyclic Size & Rotate' at the end of the brush name will duplicate, rotate and reduce in size when you continue to click in the same point on the canvas, creating a spiral effect of the brush 'dab'.

Check it out...

Have fun!

Thanks, TestTools.

The World of Brushes is a lot of fun. I think you'll enjoy it. 😃 As you learn  so your knowledge will grow, and with it, your confidence.

I only really use the Image brushes that I create myself, plus the Basic brushes (to mask, mainly, so only black or white on a Mask. Black to mask out or white to bring back what you have masked out.

This may sound confusing, daunting even, but I have written a couple of step-by-step tutorials on creating an image brush. I'll attach them here for you, if you are interested.

Attached (at bottom of this post) are:

How to Create a Brush
I wrote this for a friend who wanted to learn Affinity Photo).

This covers:
How to Create a Brush
How to Select a Brush Type
How to Duplicate a Brush
How to Edit a Brush
How to Rename a Brush
How to Create a Brush Category
How to Move a Brush
How to Import a Brush Category (for this you could download and import any of the free brushes that I have created or create your own)
How to Edit a Brush

How to Create a Brush from an Image

I have uploaded the image I have mentioned in this tutorial (background removed).

Also,

Hope this helps you on your quest. 🙂 Any questions, just let me know. I'll help if I can...

Also, there are many useful tutorials on creating brushes on YouTube that are brilliant. Some of them written by Affinity Photo Masters, others by Affinity Photo users like myself.

NB I have called the image 'Half Orange', but it's really only a 'slice'. I thought I'd get this in before anyone attempts to correct me... 🙂
