Kelly Bellis Posted February 3 Posted February 3 The attached file is an example of the report produced by Charting Companion which is unable to display dates in the standard genealogical format of D MMM YYYY, but is governed by Windows settings' Short Date; e.g. 3/25/1759 Is it possible using AffPub2, to change the date format? e.g., 25 Apr 1759 The only document format Charting Companion produces is .rtf Thank you for any reply. MikeTO Posted February 3 Posted February 3 When inserting or editing a date field, click the More (ellipsis) icon to the right of the field name in the Fields panel. You will find presets and a custom option to use any date and/or time format you need. If you don't see the option you want when inserting a field, you can set a custom format. I'm guessing because the date; e.g., 3/25/1759, is not actually a field, just a text string. Quote

But even if you import a docx file into Publisher, the field will be converted to plain text so you'll need to replace all of those after importing the document. I'm trying to change all instances where the date format in the .rft document produced by Charting Companion is determined by Window's Regional Settings for Short Date; e.g., 3/25/1759 and to change them to 25 Mar 1759. I may have to approach this date format change using regexp before Placing it (Ctrl+Shift+m) into an AffPub2 document. Quote

I don't think that Microsoft Word isn't involved with Charting Companion, though WordPad may be somehow used by this program in it producing the .rtf, its only output offered. As I mentioned in reply to Paul, I may need to fix this before bringing it into AffPub2 using LibreOffice Writer's Find & Replace and regular expressions. I just did a quick search through AffPub Help for regexp without finding any results. However, I did find it and will play with that next - after we shovel this mornings snow : ) Quote

Kelly Bellis Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Thanks to some help from the developer, and going through Control Panel - not Windows Settings - I was able to define the new Short date format. Quote
