Stentiga Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (Following the Bug Reporting guide) 1. Application: Photo 2. My version as of writing is the latest 2.5.7 3. Can reproduce: Yes, this happened to me multiple times now 4. Does it happen for new document: Yes, it is not an issue with specific document as each time I started completely new document without saving anything. 5. Hardware information: Windows 11 Pro, 24H2, 26100.2894 Hardware acceleration is ON, I have not tried the other setting (given how it hangs up the whole device I didn't really try to trigger it) What happened: After I start any document paste in images then create rectangle shape, put the image into the shape then try to resize the shape whole Windows freezes to the point where it needs to be physically shut down. What I expected: I did not expect to freeze the computer. Recive for creating the problem: Create new document Paste a png file into the document (in my case it was 2560x1440 screenshot, didnt try anything else) Using the Rectangle Tool draw a shape In layers panel drag the png into the shape layer so shape becomes a mask Have lock children enabled if this is relevant (I didn't try without it) Try resizing the rectangle in any way and freeze the system Screenshots: I don't believe I can record this in any way as it won't save when it happens. I don't believe I have any unusual hardware connected (keyboard,mouse,2 monitors, microphone, usb hub, external hard drive). I don't think I have any relevant to this applications open and running. I have not changed anything major, I haven't used Affinity software for long, bought it on promotion last year, and only started using it more lately. Quote
Gnobelix Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Hello @Stentiga welcome to this forum I cannot reproduce the problem. In the past, I also had some crashes of Affinity applications, which were probably caused by Windows. After a little research, I increased the virtual memory in Windows and Affinity has been stable since then. Maybe this is a tip for you. Cheers Quote Affinity Photo 2.5: Affinity Photo 1.10.6: Affinity Designer 2.5: Affinity Designer 1.10.6: Affinity Publisher 2.5: Affinity Publisher 1.10.6: Windows 11 Pro (Version 24H2 Build (26100.3037)
Staff stokerg Posted January 30 Staff Posted January 30 Hi @Stentiga, I also can't replicate this issue. As a test can you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in Settings and see if you can replicate the issue with this setting off? Most crashes/system freezes we've seen are related to the graphics card driver, so doing a clean install of the latest version of the drivers would also be worth trying Quote
Quote

Maybe I should disable hardware acceleration still just-in case seeing there are more issues with it on latest Windows 11 version. Quote
