3 racoons in a trenchcoat Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (hope I'm posting this in the right place, sorry if not) I just updated designer to the latest beta release (was running two releases behind) and now when I select multiple objects to move as a group, I cannot use the shift key to constrain the movement and still keep all items selected. instead, designer behaves as if my click and drag with the shift key held was a second click on my last-selected object, and deselects that object while moving all the others. this happens even if the location on my screen where I perform the click-and-drag motion doesn't overlap with the bounds of the multiple selected objects, so I'm not actually clicking again on the last selected object or anything like that. it also happens regardless of whether the objects have been marquee selected or selected by shift+click, so it seems more related to the selection of multiple objects overall than to the use of the shift key. I'm sincerely hoping this is a bug and not indicative of a deliberate change in object selection rules. currently, in order to select multiple objects and transpose them along a constrained path, I now either have to select > group > shift-constrained move > ungroup or select one additional 'sacrificial' object that I don't actually intend to move, so that gets dropped when I do the shift-click-drag to move the multiple selected objects, instead of one of the objects I actually want to move. this issue doesn't appear to be confined to a specific document or set of objects, and started happening immediately after updating to the most recent release. (3078, running on windows 11). Quote

3 racoons in a trenchcoat Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 bizarrely, I can't replicate it anymore either. after I made this post, designer froze and needed restarting several times, and now the selection issue is no longer happening. I have no idea what's up with that, but it seems to be solved for me now, I guess - if I can replicate it again I'll try to record the behavior. EmT 1 Quote
