Some how all *spaces* between all names on a large map in aPub v2 were deleted leaving all letters together without spaces (ugh!). Is this a bug in the "convert text to art text" option in v2? Is there anyway to correct this globally? How can I avoid this happening in the future? Very discouraging.

This is likely a font-specific issue. What font are you using and where did it come from?

Does the same problem occur with other standard fonts?

Select one of the spaces and press Ctrl+U to convert it to its Unicode number. What number appears? If it's not U+0020 then it's not a normal space.

When you choose Convert to Art Text, all you're doing is converting a text frame to an art text object. The text should appear identical after conversion.

Warning! Pedant mode enabled.

If you have Preview mode disabled & the frame text has multiple lines of text, you will see a change: a new return icon at the end of each line.

Pedant mode now disabled. 😜

Was this map originally a PDF?

Jim, without this information I don't know how much help we can provide:

Are only "names" affected – or all/any words?

Are the space characters actually "deleted" – or are they just not visible as distance between words?

Does this happen in this document only and always when you convert frame text to art text – or do you mean the question about converted text as a separate question?

What is the word spacing setting for the affected text?

but it saw brought over from the latest version of Publisher.

"Brought over" how? What was the source file, and how did you copy and transfer the data into your new file?
