Something a bit different for me. I wanted to try simulating an oil painting effect (at least on the rabbit), using Designer and the pixel persona. The sky was created using a Procedural Texture in Affinity Photo. The foreground foliage was created using some of @DelN's Nature Brushes and some that I created myself. (Thanks again for sharing, DelN!! Some great brushes and textures.) I created two versions using different skies. I like the colorful one, but the blue sky makes the rabbit stand out more. I'm curious which one others prefer? Anyway, hope you like it.

Nice work. I love the psychodelic rabbit! 😀  I keep coming back to look at them, and really can't make up my mind which I prefer. They both look like they have a watercolour wash as the background, the first one being rather more of an 'acid trip' or 'aurora borealis' background, the second one just as it's getting dark... He's great though. Like an artist's palette...

@DelN Thanks. I've noticed that how large an image is displayed on my monitor (or iPhone/iPad) and which version I view first often skews my preferences with many images, not just this one. What catches my eyes, background colors, ambient lighting, etc, all make a difference in my perception. I like them both. The 'acid trip' was courtesy of a Procedural Texture filter. I'm new to digital (and traditional) painting and I'm experimenting at this point.

Experimenting... That's what I find myself doing all the time. My mind is working on stuff I've not started yet when I'm not even sitting at the laptop...

I like them both, but I prefer the one with the colourful sky. I don’t think that splash of extra colours detracts in any way from the rabbit’s appearance or its ability to stand out; if anything, it complements the colourfulness of the main subject.

I venture to suggest that this experiment was a huge success. thumbup1.gif
